Can you say the same thing? How many times in a day, week, month, or year, is your assessment of your current life, ‘it’s fine’. Describing your life as ‘fine’ means you may have become complacent and may lack motivation to change. It’s the same as saying
So, how do you move from fine, average, ok and alright to ideal, amazing, and fantastic? Here are three strategies to help you in creating your ideal life:
Focus on Your Strengths
It’s those things in our lives that we’re not good at or dislike that zap us of our energy when doing them, so why keep going down that path? It’s pursuit of our goals, likes, and interests that give us energy and move us towards a fulfilling life. Do more of those things. Hate cooking, but need to feed your family? Hire someone to make a week’s worth of meals for you, purchase pre-made meals from a local meal service, or stop by the deli on the way home. Yard work taking up too much time? Hire a local student to take care of the task or move to a condo :-) Focus your energy on those things that give you more energy vs. less.
Get Active & Take Action
We tell our children wishes can come true, but the truth is they won’t come true without some effort. The most successful of people have faced challenges and even failures, but they persevere, set new goals, and take actionable steps towards those goals. Your ideal life won’t just happen. It takes deliberate, progressive steps towards your desired outcome.
Celebrate Your Achievements
Positive reinforcement is a great motivator, so celebrate that which you want to see more of. No matter how small the accomplishment, recognizing the achievement reinforces positive behaviors moving you toward more positive experiences.
