Besides being a reliable alarm clock waking up at the same time every day, my girl Sadie is an inspiration in the morning waking with complete, total joy for the new day. She tears around the room giving everyone a puppy kiss, exuberantly wags her tail, and barks with excitement all the way to the door. Anyone lucky enough to experience a morning greeting from Sadie can't help but think 'there's a dog who loves life'. Do you wake up the same way? Are you a morning person?
Some of us pop right out of bed and find morning to be the most productive time of day. Others have to hit the snooze button on the alarm several times and need a few good...
Three things you can do to make some 'me time' in the morning:
- Make Time to Exercise in the Morning -- Exercise has been proven to improve mood, reduce depression, relieve anxiety, and promote creative thinking. Get those endorphins pumping to start your day right.
- Meditate -- Even if for only 5-minutes before you start your day, it can help clear your mind and begin your day focused on the positive. Mindfulness meditation can prepare you for a day of accomplishment.
- Stay Away from the News -- In our 24 / 7 connected world, it can be routine to turn on the television while getting ready or read the news updates on your phone. The problem with that in the morning is that the news is filled with negativity and digesting that first thing sets your day off focused in the wrong area. You've exercised and meditated to get positive energy flowing. Why ruin that with the news? It can wait. (Really, it can.)
